Ranch House Fishing Trips

Ranch House Fishing Trips

Our Base Ranch Fishing Trips are for those who enjoy a few more comforts than what we can provide in back country camps. At our Ranch, we have a newly renovated bunk house in one of our rustic barns which includes two bathrooms, hot showers, comfortable bunk quarters and even a small deck where one can sit and enjoy evenings or early mornings watching elk and deer on nearby hills, mountains and meadows. We can certainly accommodate couples too in the bunk house or in our cook cabin. A typical day at the Ranch will include a hearty, home cooked breakfast (i.e. bacon/eggs, pancakes/sausage, etc.) with fresh brewed coffee and juice. While you are enjoying breakfast, our staff will get sack lunches packed as well as round up the horses and mules for riding that day. After breakfast, we'll trailer the horses to the trail head and then ride to our fishing destination(s) for the day. After a day of riding and fishing, clients can take a refreshing shower and enjoy home cooked meals and desert for dinner! Typical dinners will include entrees like grilled meats, baked or mashed potatoes, a vegetable and /or fresh salad. We also enjoy a good campfire on the Ranch most evenings!

As for the fishing out of the Ranch, we offer early ice out spring fishing in nearby lakes for big rainbows, cutthroat and even grayling! Typical summer fishing out of the ranch is all on horseback generally beginning in late June. From the Ranch,  we fish back country lakes within a two hour horseback ride as well as offer some fun, fast action small river fishing for brookies on dry flies which generally heats up by mid July! Most clients enjoy a day or two of both experiences. Lakes offer brookies and cutthroat ranging from ten to sixteen inches. We also pack in inflatable boats for lake fishing which adds to the experience and typically results in your catching more fish! Our small river fishing offers catching brookies from six to twelve inches and plenty of them.

"I had a great time fishing at Colorado Outfitters last summer! We did lake fishing the first day where I was catching cutthroats in the 14-16 inch range and the next day we fished some fast action, small river water catching brookies in the 10-12 inch range on dry flies! While I had fished with my guide, Bob Terwilliger before in his previous guiding job, this was my first time here. Needless to say, I'll be back as fishing, scenery and horses were great!"
